Chanderkhani Trek is one of the most beautiful and serene pass, at an altitude of 3660 m located in the Kullu valley. Chandrakhani Pass offers fabulous views of the Deo Tibba peak, Pir Panjal and Parbati range of mountains. The trek begins from the village of Naggar, located about 21 km from the town of Manali. The popular trek route of Chandrakhani Pass involves a circular route from Naggar to Chandrakhani Pass and back to Manali via Malana. From the village of Naggar, the trek begins with a gradual ascent upto Rumsu and Ganachalini. The path is through forested cover of pine, deodar, and chestnut. The trek then breaks out to the alpine meadows at higher altitudes. The view from these meadows of the Kullu valley, Manali, Pir Panjal, and Bara Bhangal ranges is spell-binding. A camp can then be established at Nayu Tapru below the Chandrakhani Pass. Reaching the Chandrakhani Pas, standing above the clouds with a panoramic view all around is a divine experience. We then descend down the Kullu valley to the unique, and secluded town of Malana. Further descent, and we reach the road-head at Jari, which is the ticket back to Manali. The trek is one of the popular and easiest of treks that introduces the traveler to the remote, hilly cultures of Himachal Pradesh. The landscape through the trek varies from the alpine forests at the start of the trek to the alpine meadows. The scenic beauty of the Kullu valley, and the mountain peaks that dot that horizon is a treat for the nature lover throughout the journey. The region is also known as the Valley of Gods. Legend has that Jamlu (the presiding deity at Malana), opened a basket containing the gods of Kullu at the Chandrakhani Pass and the strong winds blew the gods to their present abodes.
